Water Conservation

Please note- Napa Sanitation District's Toilet Rebate Program ends June 30, 2017. See below for more information.

Using water more efficiently saves you money and also protects the sewer system by reducing the amount of wastewater that needs to be treated. The Napa Sanitation District partners with the City of Napa to provide rebates that make saving water even easier.

Toilet Replacement

Toilet flushes and leaks can eat up nearly 40% of your indoor water budget. If your home or business contains toilets purchased before 1992, you may be using anywhere from 3.5 to 7 gallons per flush.

After June 30, 2017, Napa Sanitation District will no longer offer a toilet rebate.  Any applications dated prior to June 30th will be honored, but no new applications will be accepted.

The City of Napa Water Division will continue to offer a toilet replacement program.  City of Napa water customers can take advantage of generous financial incentives to replace pre-1992 water-wasting toilets (3.5 or more gallons per flush) with today’s high-efficiency toilets, some of which use as little as 1 gallon per flush. Visit www.cityofnapa.org/water for details on current program, or call the City of Napa’s Water Conservation Representative at 707-257-9497. Commercial customers may obtain Smart Rebates from the City of Napa for high-efficiency toilets and urinals.

Clothes Washer Rebates

A typical top-loading clothes washer uses about 40 gallons per load. Compare that with a high-efficiency clothes washer that uses less than 18 gallons per load. With a high-efficiency clothes washer, you can save more than 50% in water and energy costs! High-efficiency washers also require less detergent, are gentler on clothes , and result in shorter drying times.  The U.S. EPA's Energy Star Program certifies clothes washers to assist customers, and has developed new criteria to label exceptional products as Energy Star Most Efficient.

For 2017, Napa Sanitation District has partnered with the City of Napa to participate in the Bay Area Residential High-Efficiency Clothes Washer Rebate Program to offer a combined rebate on certain high-efficiency washer models.  For 2017 purchases made through December 31st, models meeting Energy Star Most Efficient criteria will qualify for a $100 rebate, comprised of $50 from Napa Sanitation District and $50 from the City of Napa.

This rebate is supported by a Prop 84 Grant administered by the California Department of Water Resources.

Note: Qualifying washers purchased since January 1, 2017 are eligible.  Models using Silver Ion technology are not eligible for the rebate.
