NSD Receives Awards from CWEA
May 19, 2016
Napa, California – The Napa Sanitation District (NSD) received two awards at the California Water Environment Association’s (CWEA) statewide conference in Santa Clara in April.
This year NSD was recognized with two statewide awards: Medium Sized Wastewater Treatment Plant of the Year and Supervisor of the Year. CWEA recognizes outstanding wastewater professionals and agencies through their local and statewide annual awards.
The Medium Sized Plant of the Year award is given to a plant that treats between 5 and 20 million gallons per day of wastewater. The plant must be well-managed and maintained, cost effective, in compliance with all regulations, and innovative. “It is an honor to be recognized as the best in the state,” said Plant Manager Jim Keller. “We have worked hard to improve our treatment process, increase efficiency, and recover resources to the greatest extent possible, and it is wonderful to be recognized by CWEA.”
Nick Becker of NSD’s Collection System Department received the Supervisor of the Year Award for demonstrating outstanding leadership, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to safety. Nick began his career at NSD in 2001 as a Maintenance Worker-in-Training and is now the Acting Collection System Manager. “Over the last 15 years, Nick has worked very hard for the District and taken on more responsibility and new duties,” stated General Manager Tim Healy. “He is very deserving of this honor, and we are proud that CWEA has recognized his efforts and achievements.”
These awards will be presented to the NSD Board of Directors at their next meeting on Wednesday, May 18th at 4pm.
